AcroYoga  yoga - acrobatics - healing arts

What is AcroYoga?
AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of yoga, the dynamic power of acrobatics and the loving kindness inherent of various traditions of healing arts, for example Thai massage which is a meditation on 'Metta' meaning just loving kindness. These three lineages form the foundation of a practice that cultivates trust, playfulness and community. At the same time a modern style as a tribute to ancient traditions. With its rich origins and creative nature the possibilities are infinite. From the more introspective, healing and listening 'Lunar' to the more extroverted, expressive and joyful 'Solar'. Examples of Solar ingredients are basic acrobatic techniques, inversions with spotter, acrobatic flying and creative movement and creativity. Examples of Lunar ingredients are massage, partner yoga and therapeutic flying. Lunar and Solar may at first glance seem like polar opposites, but in essence they are two sides of the same and as the different elements give feedback to each other and finds various connecting points there is a coherence created making everything come together in a holistic manner. The beautiful and impressive positions does not make the essence, they are more of a wonderful side effect of the practice. No rush, no competition, the goal is to have fun and enjoy the time together. Our main tools are gravity, sensitivity, presence and letting go, feel deeply and just be. Hone the trust in each other. Give and receive support. Inhale, exhale.

Do you want to fly with me?
The most distinctive feature of AcroYoga is so called 'flying' carried out in three roles; the 'Base' who lifts, balances and supports the 'Flyer' who finds freedom in the air and through movement and stillness experience different positions; float, spin or just hang upside down and let gravity offer all its positive effects generously. The third role is the spotter who is fundamental in the learning process and essential when you want to stretch your limits in a safe and fun way. The spotter ensures the safety of the flyer and practice radical presence and skillful communication in the interest to be there for the base and the flyer. Acrobatic flying is partner acrobatics with lots of inspiration from yoga postures and emphasis on breath awareness and to synchronize through rhythm, flow and non-verbal communication. Therapeutic flying is a kind of massage where the base supports the flyer on his hands and feet allowing the flyer to hang passively, relax and unwind. Thanks to gravity, stretchings and massage openness and relaxation is experienced.

Warmhearted Pedagogy !
The first foundation stone of AcroYoga is yoga creating balance and awareness in body, mind and soul which hand in hand learn and evolve in resonance and reflection. It is the yogic wisdom that helps us to approach all aspects of AcroYoga with humility, commitment and dedication. The yogic path may come to affect our decisions, actions and breath with mindfulness, service and love. In yoga philosophy, we learn about Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satya (truth) and with this in mind we practice AcroYoga. The first steps in the AcroYoga practice is listening and to rediscover our openness. Thereby limits are overcome in a way that develops the vision of our personal power and potential in a sustainable manner that does not harm ourselves or others. AcroYoga is an interpersonal yoga where we leave our own mat and share with others. We encourage and coach each other and work together so that challenges melt away and transforms into play. With a systematic approach, lots of practice and teamwork the learning process runs smoothly from the seemingly impossible to entirely possible, effortless and fun. A process that actually is completely natural, so there is really nothing we need to learn, it's more about opening up and reconnect with the inner wisdom that is already available if we only listen. Often we know so much more than what we think, so when we believe more in ourselves and add some faith, there are no limits to what we can accomplish.
